Upcoming driver Christie Doran is aiming to continue her development by remaining in the VAG Trophy for the forthcoming season, targeting the Class B title with Slidesports. Still a relative rookie in motorsport, Christie’s progress during the last two seasons has been extremely impressive with the young driver collecting her first Class B victory in the second half of last season, in addition to her first overall laps led.
Christie knows that continuity with a strong team will give her the best chance of succeeding, by taking the knowledge learnt and applying it to what she hopes will be her best season to date. Speaking of her delight at remaining with Slidesports, Christie said “I was always keen to stay with Slidesports. They know how to win championships and their record in winning the VAG Trophy and VW Racing Cup speaks for itself. They have done a great job in developing my racing and always given me a superb car”.
From the start of last season, Doran showed excellent improvements on previous years by challenging for victories at the Oulton Park season opener. Christie’s pace was strong at every round and this was marked by the fact she claimed a number of fastest laps, even when she didn’t always collect the finishes she deserved. Her maiden win looked to be on the cards at Brands Hatch before a red flag and subsequent failure, left Christie waiting a little longer. However, Doran produced a fantastic performance at Snetterton to claim her first win which she followed up with a flawless weekend at Castle Combe to end the year on the best possible note. Expressing her delight over the late season success, Christie says “I finished the season well. Now I want to hit the ground running and give the team the success they deserve. I have come a long way in the last two years, but there is still more to come”.
With the season fast approaching, Christie is hoping to continue her progress and assert herself as the leading contender in Class B of the VAG Trophy. Increased grid numbers, coupled with high profile entries, has seen the VAG Trophy go from strength to strength in recent years but Doran is confident heading into the upcoming season by saying “I felt I was really getting to terms with the car in the final few races and series boss Stewart Lines has done a really good job with the regulations. I can’t wait to get started”.
