Ex-driver Susie Wolff made her first appearance on Channel 4 this afternoon, after being announced as a permanent member of the team last month. The Scottish star is best known for her role with Williams Martini Racing, having been a development driver with the race team and promoted to the role of test driver during the 2015 Formula One season.
Although Wolff never participated in any qualifying sessions or races during her Formula One career, she did take part in four FP1 sessions, in addition to a number of test days with the team. In doing so, Susie Wolff became the first woman in 20 years to take part in a grand prix weekend.
With Wolff no longer on the racetrack, Susie plans to use her time with both Channel 4 and her highly-praised ‘Dare to be Different’ campaign. D2DB aims to “inspire, connect and showcase women in every aspect of racing” and since its launch in January has received fantastic support from both genders in the racing world.
Susie’s role with Channel 4 will see her involvement with many special features that will demonstrate her driving skill, as well as being the channel’s expect analyst.
Wolff has received a good reaction from fans on social media too.
We can’t wait to see what she brings to the Nation’s television screens this season.
