Young German racer Carrie Schreiner showed great pace during the first official MSA Formula test day at Brands Hatch last week. The Double R Racing driver is set to compete on a limited basis in the MSA Formula Championship alongside her commitments in Germany driving in the ADAC Formel 4 Series. Carrie recorded the 11th fastest time of the day with both sessions combined and completed a total of 135 laps despite feeling a little under the weather after a tough month of intensive testing and training ahead of the new season. Schreiner’s lap times were extremely consistent throughout the day as she benefited from sharing data with fellow Double R Racing driver Zane Goddard.
Carrie’s first season of car racing came last season where she competed for HTP Junior Team in the ADAC Formel 4 Series, Germany’s premier junior single-seater championship which saw grids of up to 40 cars each weekend. Schreiner finished 16th in the rookie class with a best finish of 5th in class coming at the Sachsenring. After tests in MSA Formula machinery at Thruxton and Silverstone, Carrie arrived at Brands Hatch for the first official test hoping to make further progress. The morning session began well as she spent the majority of the three hour test in second position but slipped to sixth after competitors found speed late on; nonetheless, she was able to gain valuable information after completing 70 laps. The second session brought more positivity for Carrie as she was able to complete a total of 65 laps of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, setting the 10th fastest time out of the 15 drivers present. Overall this meant she had the 11th fastest time when the sessions were combined, however she featured at the sharp end of the speed traps throughout the day. Schreiner will be looking forward to more testing during the month of March before embarking on her second full season in car racing.
